HVC's Hot Cake cigar, released in 2020, is an English translation of one of the brand's other lines, the Pan Caliente, which draws its name from the Spanish version of "selling like hot cakes." Both series share a similar name and both comprise Aganorsa tobaccos, but the blends are distinctly different: Most notably, the Hot Cake features a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper instead of the Pan Caliente's one of Criollo '98 leaf. The Hot Cake, then, features Jalapa-grown Corojo '99 and Estelí-grown Corojo '98, with viso leaves of Corojo 2006 Maduro in the filler blend and is rolled at Aganorsa's Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. factory. While the Hot Cake and the Pan Caliente are distinct blends with different flavor profiles, both are well deserving of their names, with the Hot Cake marked by a rich flavor profile of cocoa, chocolate, earth, and spice.
