This Firecracker by United Cigar 2021 Short Robusto Cigar is made in Costa Rica. Outside, you'll find a Nicaraguan Corojo Oscuro wrapper. Inside, the binder is Criollo, and the filler is Criollo/Corojo. This is a Nub cigar with a length of 3.50 and a ring gauge of 52.
In 2021, the United Cigar Firecracker got a brand new look, going all-in on Americana. This 3.5 x 52 nub of a stogie makes a solid argument for being the premier cigar of the 4th of July. There are other strong contenders out there, but the bald eagle right on the band will put anyone in the mood for a patriotic display.
The Firecracker has been around for quite some time. Don Pepin busted it out all the way back in 2006. That’s right, one of the world’s most sophisticated blenders likes to have a little fun sometimes too! But it was later absorbed by United Cigar and has become a regular release of a number of other companies as well, like Perdomo and Foundation.
Don’t be confused – the name of the Firecracker by United Cigar 2021 cigar isn’t about the blend. It relates to the size, shape, and design of the cigar. Check out the pics and you’ll see that it looks like an old-school firecracker, complete with a twisted-up tobacco wick! It’s not for lighting, of course. You still light the foot. The “wick” is cut off when you prep for smoking.
Along with the new branding, the blend was updated and seriously improved, in our opinion. The 2021 United Cigars Firecracker is really fun this time around. Nicaraguan and Dominican ligero and seco long-fillers make up the inside of the cigar, along with a Dominican Piloto Mejorado binder. Then outside that, there’s a flavorful Ecuadorian Habano wrapper
The flavor profile winds up being as American as apple pie, in its own way. The hot note is nice brown cinnamon, along with fruity flashes of apple and brown sugar, plus a touch of graham cracker. When you’re in the middle of summer and you want a cigar to take to a 4th of July fireworks show, this is a great choice. Pair it up with beers from your cooler and enjoy the taste of freedom.
