Spanish for Rockets, the Tatuaje Cohetes are crafted to offer a short but explosive experience for the die-hard cigar fanatic. This is a special blend, near and dear to the hearts of the Tatuaje cult. The cigars were first released to a single retailer in 2006, with company owner, Pete Johnson, re-releasing the cigars in 2009 and 2013.
In recent years, Pete has slowly but surely begun dipping into the company's most famed releases, often adding fuel to the fire with new wrapper varieties to join the originals. This holds true with the 2022 Tatuaje Cohetes, with Sumatra and Broadleaf wrapper options now joining the original Habano. Each version of the Tatuaje Cohetes are rolled in the original 4" x 50 format, offering larger production numbers for a much wider national release. However, the cigars are still limited, and are expected to be released every three years moving forward.
The original Tatuaje Cohetes features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers. This is a legendary smoke, offering a medium-full body and classic flavors of peppercorn, toasted oak, zesty cabinet spices, and baker's cocoa.
The Capa Especial designates an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, which surrounds the same binder/filler of all-Nicaraguan leaf. Medium to full in body, this blend shows notes of cedar, nutmeg, toasted caramel, and medium-roast coffee.
The darkest of the bunch is the Reserva Broadleaf, boasting a gritty Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper atop all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers. This is a balanced, medium-to-full maduro, showing flavors of earth, semi-sweet chocolate, French-press coffee, and touches of cinnamon.
